YOU’RE NEXT! presented at TriestEspresso the innovative tamper YOU & ME designed by Andrea Villa

TriestEspresso Expo 2016 - Thursday, October 21 has been a particularly busy day for the Master of Coffee  Andrea Villa:

"We asked the greatest exponents of the world of coffee to test our prototype tamper: the world champion of Coffee in Good Spirits Michalis Dimitrakopoulos  Helena Olivero, Andrej Godina and Edy Bieker, as well as many other professionals, provide us fundamental feedbacks for its development." tells excited Andrea, adding:"The accuracy of their impressions enable us to further improvement to the ergonomics of the handle and  the finishing on the steel ".

The You & Me tamper falls within the project YOU'RE NEXT! Conceived and managed by Valentina Fonda, Edo Barista Project Manager, to create a Barista Tools collection in close collaboration with the baristas: "Only a professional barista knows all the tools available on the market and, since he is using them every day, he knows how to perfect them. The project YOU'RE NEXT! It is born to offer the possibility to all the baristas to submit an original project foe a product and be supported to realize it, test it and market it”

Listen to the Baristas: this is the motto of Valentina. Both the one who has an interesting an original idea and all those baristas who have enjoyed giving their contribution by testing different prototypes and giving us their professional opinion, as it happened Thursday at TriestEspresso.

In particular, the YOU&ME tamper has been designed to meet the core requirements:

• Ergonomics of the handle: the handle is designed for a secure and steady grip. Made of plastic material, is to the touch which facilitate a good grip and is a guarantee of an excellent resistance to the use.
• Materials used: top of the range, the 316N steel and plastics used are those of the America's Cup boats components, where strength and reliability are essential requirements. The company Mcanik of Ronco Briantino followed the design of the tamper since the first prototype: the processing capacity of this particular steel and plastic is very special and has been developed in nearly 10 years of experience in metal parts and special components.
• Weight: calibrated to reduce the pressing force
• Base Height: realized with a height superior to the average of tampers on sale in order to make the tamping more effective and precise and at the same time reduce the effort of the barista.
• Interchangeability of the handle: one of the strengths of the You & Me tamper. Each package will contain 1 base (with a diameter of 53 or 58 cm) and 2 handles of different proportions, designed to adapt to hands of different sizes. The idea is that 2 baristas with different hand sizes can now share the same tamper.
• Price: still under study. One thing is certain: given the quality of the tamper price will be highly competitive compared to the average price of tampers of the same range

You & Me: the social tamper that can be used by different baristas, no matter the hand size.

"This tamper is the result of the synergy between the study of materials and the work of a professional barista. The purpose was to obtain a high quality product suitable for every barista, in both ergonomic and economical terms" says Andrea. Marco Boscolo from the company Mcanik, who followed the project in the first person, adds "it has been a very fun project. Its realization was for me a personal challenge: since we got an idea to the finished product I was carefully taking care of  the selection of the materials and I’m sure we have chosen the most durable and the most efficient available".
